February 5, 2010

One day the title on this post will read Vampire Weekend on Hype Floats, but instead of holding your breath, you can check out 23 minutes of the Ivy League quartet on La Blogotheque. Oh and if anyone has their latest album, please mail it to my home.

Vampire Weekend: Cousins Video

January 19, 2010

I’ve officially hopped on the Vampire Weekend band wagon, I’m pretty sure that makes me a poser, but these four funky Ivy-League fellows have got something that the people want. This is the official video from their song “Cousins” off their recently released album Contra. They’re also on the cover of the current Time Out NY, I’m not sure what that does to their Indie street Cred, but it doesn’t make the groovy jam and matching visuals any less enjoyable.

Vampire Weekend: Contra

January 13, 2010

Here’s something you won’t see very often here, it’s music, it’s from an indie group, but they have the audacity to charge a cool eight bucks for it? That’s right the ivy-league quartet known as Vampire Weekend has released their sophomore effort, and the blogosphere is buzzing. There are a few artists that are simply worthwhile to pony up and purchase, Vampire weekend isn’t it for me, but maybe it will be for you. Stream the samples and dare I say buy it, here.

Cudderisback: Vampire Weekend Sample

December 14, 2009

Here at Hype Floats, we’re dedicated to giving you the originals to songs whenever it is convenient for us. With that being said the sampling of Indie Rock has become a movement in and of itself, and Kid Cudi is at the forefront of that movement. Having paled around with MGMT and Ratatat, he’s latest track makes use of Vampire Weekend’s “Ottoman” which appeared in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, which isn’t a horrible movie if you’re in the mood for Michael Cera’s awkward humor, which you probably aren’t. Well anyhoo, since you probably don’t want to download it you can listen to it here.
