October 31, 2009Directed by music video guru Hype Williams, shot on scene in the Rotten Apple, Jay-z’s Empire State of Mind channels NYC almost as well as performing at Yankee Stadium, sorry Mud dogs fans. Though hov looks like he may have come down with a little OCD at around :45, the dude has consecrated his spot at the dais of hip-hop elite for 13 years. He’s got the hottest girl in the game, and a sweet tune with Mr. Hudson….what more could you want.

Bob Sheppard probably had a heart attack with this one. This is the fastest anyone has spoken over the Yankees PA in a thousand years, which is almost as old as Bobby is. The song is de-galvanized without being able to hear the beat, but this must have been quite a show for those in attendance. Even the Phillies players were awe-struck to see Jay before the game, and he didn’t cop out proudly stating “I made the Yankee hat more famous that a Yankee Can” in Yankee stadium no less. Definitely a better opening act than the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus (google it).
